Pioneer Guide Information
The purpose of these pages is to relate to
our members and the
community about the Pioneer Lodge.
It is a way
for our members to be informed and communicate
with
the Pioneer Lodge council. It is also
an avenue to relate
to the Chicago South Suburban community of
our existence and
the purpose of the program. It is our invitation
for all residents
to join us in building a stronger community
through strong
family values.

the scope of our

YMCA Guide Program
The YMCA sponsored Pioneer Guide Program has been
in existence for over sixty-five years. Started as a grass
roots organization by a group of fathers wishing to spend
quality time with their children, the program now serves
many thousands of families nation wide. The focus of the
program has not changed. The focus is the sharing of quality
time between father and child.
Mission/Organization Statement
It is the hope of the Lodge Leaders of this, the
Pioneer Lodge, that participation by the father
and his son(s) and/or daughter(s) will strengthen their relationship.

History of the Pioneer Lodge
The Pioneer Lodgee has been serving the Chicago
South Suburbs for over twenty years. We are one of
many nation wide YMCA Guide sponsored programs.
With a start of about thirty families consisting of about six
outposts, we have grown to over one hundred and seventy-five
families and over twenty outposts. We are an organization of
growth in both number of families and number of events.
Future of the Pioneer Lodge
The Pioneer Lodge not only wants to continue
serving the current family base participating in the program,
but also to continue passing our program along to all families
so all can enjoy what we have already come to enjoy. It is our
goal that all families are aware of this program and the Pioneer
Lodge will continue to grow in numbers with all
finding togetherness between father and child. We continue
searching for ways to not only keep our program sound, but
to also make it stronger so the experience will be even more
enhanced in the future.
